Non-Exempt, Full-time Summary/Objective:
The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the organization, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Essential Functions:
The following are the core responsibilities of the Financial Controller that will occur on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and will involve in-depth interaction with members of the management and accounting teams.
Special projects and other responsibilities not listed below will be assigned on an as needed basis with direction from the President and Owners.
Management ? Develops, maintains and ensures compliance with a documented system of accounting policies and procedures ? Oversees the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives ? Oversees the accounting operations of subsidiary entities, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures ? Manages cash bank balances and cash flow, prepares cash flow projections ? Manages special projects and other duties as required in accordance with company initiatives and changes ? Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, evaluation, and coaching of the accounting staff Transactions ? Maintains and enhances systems of internal controls ? Ensures accounting transactions are reported accurately and timely ? Oversees correct use of subsidiary ledgers for tracking AR invoices, receipts and adjustments; AP invoices, credit memos and payments, applicable sales and use taxes filings and payments, fixed asset additions, disposals and depreciation, etc.
? Ensures that accounts payable are paid accurately and in a timely manner ? Ensures that accounts receivable are collected promptly ? Ensures payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner ? Coordinates tracking and timely payment of sales representative commissions ? Reviews completed Balance Sheet account reconciliations monthly, including reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger ? Oversees maintenance of the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system Reporting ? Issues timely and complete interim financial statements and related analysis reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) ? Supports and adheres to the month-end close schedule ? Coordinates and assists with preparation of budgets and forecasts using a zero-based approach ? Manages project cost and margin reporting and analysis ? Reports significant issues to management ? Prepares miscellaneous pro forma financial statements, analysis, and financial modeling as needed Annual ? Coordinates and manages:
annual external financial review process information for year-end financial statements and tax returns annual professional and liability insurance renewal process annual employee health insurance renewal process monitoring and renewal of all licenses and permits as required Competencies:

Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.

Must be proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook applications.
Proficiency with Quickbooks or other web-based financial software also desired.
Construction experience is strongly desired for this position.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier/printer/scanner, filing cabinets.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Working overtime is anticipated as needed to complete all assigned duties in a responsible and timely manner.

Required Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study or equivalent required.
CPA or CMA preferred.
Three to five years of Controller experience.
Construction industry experience given preference.
