$15-$16/HR 15-20hrs a week (possible FT) Reports to:
Development & Communication Coordinator, Diane Siefkes About The Hermitage The Hermitage No Kill Cat Shelter and Sanctuary has been a refuge for homeless cats and kittens since 1965.
We are both an adoption facility and long-term sanctuary.
Scope of Position:
As the Social Media Specialist, you are responsible for maintaining and growing the shelter's Facebook and Instagram presence.
In collaboration with the Development/Communication Coordinator, you will schedule, create, respond, and track metrics.
Responsibility to monitor outside posts and inquiries, replying directly to individuals or identifying the correct staff person to be contacted.
This position needs a creative individual who is comfortable taking pictures, videos and writing short form content and is excited to advance the shelter's mission.
There is a very real chance this position will grow into more for the right person (TikTok, YouTube).
Bilingual welcome.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design and scheduling of social media posts (Facebook and Instagram) including stories and reels.
Work with Development and Communication Coordinator to further the overall fundraising and marketing strategies/goals.
Photography and video familiarity.
Monitor social media sites to respond appropriately in a timely manner to comments, mentions and inquires.
Assists in the creation of other marketing materials as needed.
Qualifications/Educational Background Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of social media platforms.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
Familiarity with Canva, Donor Snap, and Constant Contact (or similar software) preferred.
Professional, high energy, outgoing team player.
Ability to think critically and take initiative.
Professional Expectations A passion for cats and The Hermitage's mission is essential.
Understanding of and willingness to adhere to the basic tenets of the No-Kill philosophy.
Treat felines with care and compassion.
Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward staff and general public.
Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload.
Willingness to participate in meetings and share ideas and suggestions to improve the organization as a whole.
