This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer for our Tucson, AZ office.
Be involved in projects with our Earth and Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact Working within our mine waste team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry with opportunities to work on projects in other industries Performing engineering tasks such as:
oSite and material characterization oFacility design including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluations oSlope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and settlement analyses oSurface water management facility design and analysis Preparing portions of technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs Assisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, schedules, and cost estimates Performing domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field/work site notebook/logs.
Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related degree.
0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in Civil or Mining Engineering.
Experience using slope stability software packages, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office.
