This job opportunity is for Telephone Interviewer positions located in the Tucson Contact Center, within the National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Bureau of the Census located at 201 N. Bonita Ave., Suite 251, Tucson, Arizona 85745. This position performs telephone interviewing activities for the NPC in connection with the Census Bureau's various surveys and censuses. This position is included in the bargaining unit. This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies. Individuals selected for this position will:
Telephone respondents and explain the purpose of the survey or census in order to gain cooperation. Obtain and record the data on prescribed questionnaires or on computer terminals. Contact previous refusals to persuade the individual to cooperate by providing a thorough explanation of the confidentiality and uses of the survey data. Review questionnaires/forms for completeness; edit or otherwise assist in clerical processing and/or data entry. Receive extensive, detailed training. Tour of Duty:
Mixed Tour, Intermittent Work Schedule. Mixed Tour is a combination of periods of full-time, part-time, and intermittent work schedules which allows the best utilization of the employee based on the work requirements of the organization, whenever there is an increase or decrease in the workload, your work schedule may be changed. Telephone Interviewers may be moved from intermittent to part-time to full-time as needed to accomplish the work. Applicants must be available to work within the following range of times:
Monday through Friday, 5:
00 a.m. to 10:
00 p.m.; Saturday, 6:
00 a.m. to 7:
30 p.m.; and Sunday, 8:
00 a.m. to 10:
00 p.m. Intermittent Telephone Interviewers may be scheduled to work up to 25 hours per week on an as needed basis. Employees must be available to work when work is available. Employees are paid 10% night differential for any hours worked between 6:
00 p.m. and 6:
00 a.m. You qualify at the grade 03 level if you possess 6 months of general experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. The following education may be substituted for the required experience. To qualify for grade 03, you must have successfully completed of 1 full year of study above the high school level in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grade 03.Transcripts must be submitted with your resume by the closing date.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
