Process Development Engineer for 3M Corporate Research Laboratory in Tucson AZ.

Lead process engineer for a vapor coating operation, completing R&D and pilot production activities.  Develop multi pass thin film deposition processes for Roll to Roll, Single Drum, In-line vacuum coaters.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • ·         Process ownership - Develop and qualify thin film deposition processes including AC/DC sputtering of metals, AC/DC reactive sputtering of transparent conductive oxides or transparent dielectrics, PECVD, evaporation of metals and Polymer Multilayer (PML) deposition.
  • ·         Planning, monitoring and implementing for all define practices, procedures, methods, techniques, materials, equipment maintenance/inspection, and electro-mechanical equipment modifications needed to ensure, promote and obtain adequate performance of the vacuum manufacturing equipment system.
  • ·         Supervised and trained Engineers, technicians, contract workers and technical aides, in completing the execution of changes to the system, monitoring its performance, optimize systems performance and evaluate identifiable factors to minimize risk of contamination to the system and experiments.
  • ·         Statistical process control (SPC), Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Design of Experiment (DOE) tools and six sigma methodologies to optimize process output.
