Vehicle Description 1926 Chevrolet Speedster custom built from the ground up with modern upgrades to improve power, reliability.
and drivability.
Prior to WW1 auto racing featured expensive machines, financed by auto manufacturers.
Teams toured the country with most races in large cities, as a result the vast majority of Americans never saw a race.
After the war in the 20's and 30's all that changed due to over 1000 dirt tracks that were built in the USA and Canada.
Many of the cars raced were Home Built and featured drivetrains and Chassis from model T's and other popular cars from the teens and 20's.
There were many body manufacturers out there that built special Speedster bodies that would bolt to a factory chassis and would utilize the cars original hood and grill shell.
The stripped down Speedsters were much lighter and sportier than the factory bodies.
This is a recreation of race cars from that era, a decade before the term Hot Rod was coined.
Steel Body hand fabricated by Ken Gilmur in the style of international Body Co.
Chassis is a 1926 Chevy fitted with a 4 dropped axle, a 1947 Ford rear differential with Halibrand Quick Change.
It has Wilwood disc brakes on all 4 corners that are cleverly disguised as drum brakes.
Custom racing friction shocks were fitted.
Powered by a modified 180 cu in GM 4 cylinder engine with upgraded cam, custom intake with dual weber carbs, custom jet hot coated header, and electronic ignition.
Engine is backed by an S10 5 speed manual with Wilwood hydraulic clutch.
Rolls on 1932 Chevrolet 18 rims with 5.
50 -18 tires.
Modern style hot rod wiring and fuse block with LED lights out back and modern H4 halogens up front in vintage Guide style housings.
VDO classic gauges adorn the custom-made wood dashboard.
The steering wheel is a quick release style to make it easier to get in and out.
Bucket seats are adjustable forward and back.
Windshields feature smoked glass.
